Kettering Yacht Club will be selling sandwiches and light refreshment at lunchtime on Saturday. The bar will be open, with plenty of very reasonably priced soft drinks and bottled water for those who will be out on the Channel in the afternoon.

On Sunday the Wooden Boat Guild of Tasmania will also be serving food at lunchtime, a simple sausage sizzle from the BBQ. Again, the bar will be open.

The Friday evening twilight race will be followed by a BBQ at KYC. You don't have to race to come along to the BBQ – all welcome!

The Saturday evening meal will be a curry night at the KYC Clubhouse, with a fine selection of curries prepared by volunteers. Food will be served from 6:30pm, and the bar will be open for pre-dinner drinks and during the evening. Cost of the meal is $15, payable on the night.

On Sunday night we have our Rally Dinner from 7:00pm. For this you need to pre-book, so that we can let the caterers know numbers. If you haven't already done so on your entry form, or know of somebody who is not entering a boat but wants to come to the dinner, (all welcome) please let us know.

Details of events
Rowing and paddling

Saturday 10 February 2018: Small boat row, paddle or sail from Kettering to Woodbridge and return, a distance of 3NM. The boats will leave the Kettering Yacht Club launch area at 10.30am. Alternatively those entered for the rally can join the group from Trial Bay where there are good launching facilities at the boat ramp. The plan is to voyage to Woodbridge for lunch at the pub.

The small boats will be accompanied by the motor cruiser Shipright as a safety boat. The event is subject to change depending on the weather. Boats can raft up at the jetty or anchor off the Woodbridge beach. There is also a small ramp at Woodbridge.

The sailing events will be a pursuit type start, with the first boats setting off at 2:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Courses will be set by the Principal Race Officer according to the weather conditions, and will use as far as possible the KYC permanent marks (see the map below). Announcements will be made on VHF Channel 73. Start times for each boat and detailed Sailing Directions will be included in your Rally Bag.

If you are taking part in the Friday twilight event, you will be placed into one of KYC's three divisions. Division 1 starts at 6:00pm, Division 2 at 6:05pm and Division 3 at 6:10pm. Each Division receives a signal at 5, 4, and one minutes before the start. The start signal for the division before is the 5 minute warning for the next. You will be advised by Email about your division, but if you are unsure, approach the start boat or make contact on VHF Channel 73. The course for each division will be announced on Channel 73. The KYC permanent marks are shown in the 30-Jan update document.

Motoring Boats

The motoring boats will follow the same course as the sailors, but starting 5 minutes after the last sailing group, so you will need to listen to VHF Channel 73 for course details. You will be given a program to complete which will depend on the nominated average speed of your vessel. Detailed directions will be included in your Rally Bag.

Rally bags containing your Rally Flag and huon pine plaque, any Sunday dinner tickets that you prepaid, together with a list of starting times, and detailed sailing directions will be available from the KYC Clubhouse on Friday evening after the twilight race (from about 7:30pm) or over the weekend from 9:30am Saturday.
