KWBR7 Small Boats Day
Saturday the 12th of February 2022
The KWBR7 Small Boat day, that is both rowing and sailing boats, will take place at Trial Bay, just south of Kettering.
Trial Bay is shallow and subject to fairly large tidal movement, so we will need to work with the tides. These are not particularly helpful on the scheduled day — predicted low tide is to be 0.46m at 12:58.
Boats are requested to be on the water off the Trial Bay Boat Ramp ready for a 09:45 start as the tide will be well on the way out at 0.8m. The course will be triangular and will be set, dependent on weather directions, prior to that so that boats will be able to sail as well as row.
Sailing boats will start first, with rowing boats starting second. There will be a larger start/safety boat at the start line which will sound a starting horn.
This Rally we will not be going all the way to Woodbridge. We will be using a triangular course from Trial Bay to Little Peppermint Bays, Ray Kemp's Boat yard and Slip. However we will not be landing there.
This event will also include a Scavenger Hunt during the course of the event that will be judged for prizes in the KYC.
If there is time there will be 2 rounds of the course and 1 event for each division, i.e. rowing, sailing and paddling.
Following the morning's activities, retrieve boats and proceed to the KYC for the BYO BBQ or your own purchased lunch.
Prizes will be presented in the KYC on Sunday evening.
Note that Wooden Boat Guild members will need to register their craft to enjoy the small boats event at KWBR7.
Contact Peter Higgs or John Pretty for any clarifications.
